The CIWS has pointed out how Canadian WCBs are increasingly using an insurance-industry business model to delay and deny legitimate claims.

Insurer Fraud Is Not a Victimless Crime

"Insurers have found and/or developed ways to circumvent the law and have intentionally bastardized, convoluted and corrupted the very system designed to provide desperately needed benefits and medical care to the injured workers of California and across the United States."

By Sam Gold
A California Injured Worker

It preys on those who least can afford to be preyed upon. It destroys families. It destroys people. It destroys lives.

Who perpetrates this type of heinous crime against the occupationally injured, why America’s insurance companies of course.

You have to understand just how they operate, to fathom just how they could perpetrate this type of atrocity against another human being.

You also have to keep in mind that Workers Compensation was created as a social safety net to help and assist injured workers heal from their injuries and return back to gainful employment, not as a corporate cash machine for the insurance industry.

According to the California Insurer Fraud Task Force, insurance companies have created a system in which the injured worker suffers horribly, while insurers are able to ruthlessly and viciously defraud the public and act with impunity, all in the name of their corporate profits!”

We must keep in mind that the insurance industry is a business, which by definition means “profit-based”. However, they are trained to examine, explore, manipulate, and resolve (close) claims however they have to; by hook or crook! They are all “for-profit” entities that take risks based on projected financial returns.

Insurers have found and/or developed ways to circumvent the law and have intentionally bastardized, convoluted and corrupted the very system designed to provide desperately needed benefits and medical care to the injured workers of California and across the United States.

The insurer’s creation and/or irresponsible use of Utilization Review, unqualified AME, IME, or QME Doctors, unethical defense attorneys, and private investigators/SIU, along with the improper application of the Exclusive Remedy has resulted in a plethora of fraudulent practices whereby insurers can literally steal from everyone; i.e. employers, injured workers, the general citizenry, and from State and Federal governments as well.

One cannot imagine how it feels to be alone, hopeless and helpless while trying to deal with a corporate entity whose sole purpose is to beat you down and get you to take the least amount possible to settle a claim. And they don’t really care whether you recover from your injuries or not, injuries that were in many case caused by the gross negligence of the employer. It’s simply just about the “Bottom Line!”

Don’t expect Steve Poizner, the new Insurance Commissioner to help you get these vicious predators to obey the law. What he says publicly for the news media and what he actually does privately, seem to be two horses of a different color.

After all there are plenty of folks in Sacramento just waiting to ride on the insurance industry political gravy train and there certainly is plenty of insurance industry money rolling around in Sacramento pockets.

If you’re tired of this nonsense, then give us a call and we’ll tell you how you can help.
