Student Documentary Seeks Injured Workers

Hello members of the Canadian Injured Workers Society,

A group of five students and I from Ryerson University are making a documentary that focuses on injured workers and their struggles. By producing this documentary we hope to better understand the journey injured workers take in order to return the workforce.

In our preliminary research and interviews we have discovered many different hurdles and problems injured workers face, particularly when dealing with the WSIB. An issue that caught our attention was retraining programs that injured workers attend at private schools to be re-placed in the workplace. We hope to investigate these programs further.

We are looking for injured workers in the Toronto area who would like to share their experiences with us.

This is our final major assignment before we graduate, so we want it to be something that we are proud of. Although it will not be broadcast on live TV, we might use our documentary in our demo reels when applying for jobs.

Sincerely, Natasha Melo and fellow group members

Anyone who is interested in contributing to our documentary can e-mail me at n2melo@ryerson.ca
